China Kaiyuan City Signs Agreement with CarbonCabin to Promote High-Quality Development of Village-Level Collective Economy in Yunnan Province

The two parties are focused on promoting village-level collective economic development in Yunnan, targeting rural waste classification, rural beautification, and collective economic development. Together, they are building a closed-loop circular economy model that incorporates smart sorting, efficient recycling, and resource regeneration, spanning agriculture, forestry, handicrafts, and services. Through tangible actions, they are helping rural towns and villages in Kaiyuan City embark on a green and sustainable development path.

Last year, Kaiyuan City launched 11 operational CarbonCabins, primarily located in new and old residential communities, densely populated areas, and village committees. To date, they have collectively sorted and recycled nearly 8.5 tons of waste, with about 800 participants, achieving a carbon-neutral volume of 5.8 tons. CarbonCabin supports Kaiyuan City in learning from the “Ten Thousand Villages Plan” and in advancing rural waste sorting and recycling efforts.

As a National Garden City, a National Sanitation City, and a Provincial Ecological Civilization Demonstration City, Kaiyuan City’s government plans to further promote rural waste management and village appearance improvements this year, aiming to lead the way in beautiful rural construction.

CarbonCabin’s widespread application will be key to addressing challenges such as single sources of revenue for village (community) collective economies, inconvenient waste recycling, and raising public environmental awareness. Not only does it effectively promote waste classification and carbon reduction goals, but it also improves living conditions and fosters the diversification and sustainable growth of village-level collective economies, enhancing the happiness and sense of accomplishment for the people of Kaiyuan City.

Through the “CarbonCabin + CarbonCabin Air” strategy, CarbonCabin will create a convenient resource recycling pathway for Kaiyuan residents, revamp the waste sorting and recycling model, expand paths for collective economic revenue, and allow villagers to share in the green prosperity brought by the circular economy.

Waste Sorting Supports “Carbon Neutrality”—Pujiang Has the Answer

After more than two weeks of trial operation, on March 16, 2022, Pujiang County officially launched its first waste sorting “Carbon Neutral” Cabin, connected to UN carbon neutrality data. This marked Pujiang as the third city nationwide and the first suburban new town in Chengdu to have a waste sorting “Carbon Neutral” Cabin.

Upon entering the cabin, one immediately sees five separate sections for textiles, glass, plastic, metal, and paper waste.

In addition to the recyclable materials, there are two mysterious devices placed to the left of the entrance—one tall and one short. The staff at the waste sorting “Carbon Neutral” Cabin explained that these devices are “carbon neutrality” measurement instruments, which play a key role in linking waste sorting to “carbon neutrality”! They can not only weigh materials but also calculate the corresponding “carbon neutrality” data for the recyclables.

“The most amazing thing about this waste sorting ‘Carbon Neutral’ Cabin is their ‘carbon neutrality’ measurement instrument, which is very easy to use,” said Ms. Li, who had come to drop off some recyclable materials. Skillfully placing a pile of waste cardboard on the instrument, the staff selected the item category and confirmed it. The screen on the “carbon neutrality” measurement instrument immediately displayed the weight of the items. After a second confirmation, a QR code appeared. Ms. Li quickly scanned it with her phone using WeChat, and within ten seconds, she received a notification of money credited to her account.

The staff of the waste sorting “Carbon Neutral” Cabin also mentioned, “In addition to cash rewards, each time someone participates in recycling, they can accumulate carbon neutrality credits. When these credits reach 1 ton, they will receive an additional 100 RMB in cash.”

The Endless Possibilities of “Carbon Neutrality”

“Carbon neutrality” is expected to guide the establishment of a new economic cycle, bringing green, sustainable growth to the ecological environment, economy, and society. It will also offer extensive development prospects for the nation’s industries, energy systems, and green finance.

“In recent years, ‘carbon neutrality’ has been a hot topic both nationwide and globally. Citizens are eager to participate, but many don’t know how. Our original intention in building the waste sorting ‘Carbon Neutral’ Cabin was to provide a convenient path for citizens to engage in ‘carbon neutrality,’ making it accessible to everyone. We also aim for the cabin to serve as a hub for education and practical work in Pujiang’s waste sorting and ‘carbon neutrality’ initiatives,” a staff member from the County Integrated Law Enforcement Bureau explained.

At the sub-venue of the launch ceremony for the waste sorting “Carbon Neutral” Cabin, an interactive experience zone was set up, featuring games on waste sorting that residents enjoyed. Through immersive games like “Waste Sorting Basketball,” “Return the Waste,” “Sorting Expert,” and “Let’s Sort Together,” residents were able to participate happily, learn sorting knowledge, understand the importance of waste sorting, improve sorting accuracy, and develop a “green, low-carbon, and eco-friendly” mindset.

On May 28, 2024, at the “Corporate Support for Urban Circular Development” themed meeting hosted by ICLEI, “CarbonCabin Air” was officially launched, initiating an in-depth dialogue on the circular economy and a green future.

Lvdoya’s “One-Click Carbon Reduction” Achieves Carbon Neutrality at the UN Climate Change Conference for the First Time

From December 3–14, 2018, the 24th UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP24) was held in Katowice, Poland.

As part of China’s commitment to the Paris Agreement and efforts to promote global emissions reductions, the Chinese delegation, along with all Chinese participants at the “China Pavilion” side events, offset their greenhouse gas emissions from the conference. This carbon neutrality initiative was achieved using Lvdoya’s innovative “One-Click Carbon Reduction” feature on its app, which calculated and offset all greenhouse gas emissions generated during the event by purchasing and retiring verified Chinese voluntary carbon credits (CCERs). The third-party independent verification was provided by the China National Building Materials Group Corporation. During the conference, the Chinese delegation and participants at the “China Pavilion” side events emitted a total of 490 tons of CO2 equivalent.

This was the first time the Chinese delegation achieved carbon neutrality at the UN Climate Conference, demonstrating China’s commitment to global ecological civilization and its leadership in fostering international cooperation to address climate change.

Lvdoya’s “One-Click Carbon Reduction” platform advocates for the whole society to adopt a green, low-carbon lifestyle, leading and creating a new trend of high-quality, sustainable development. This is a concrete example of China’s ongoing efforts to combat climate change and promote a low-carbon development path.
